Frequently Asked Questions

How does Vokter's 2FA work?

Vokter uses TOTP authentication with Google Authenticator. When you make a transaction, you provide a 6-digit TOTP code that the Guardian service verifies off-chain. The Guardian then provides a cryptographic signature, creating a 2-of-2 multisig requirement for all transactions.

What is the Guardian service?

The Guardian is a separated off-chain service that verifies TOTP codes and provides cryptographic signatures. It doesn't hold your private keys but ensures that transactions only execute after successful 2FA verification.

How does 2-of-2 multisig protect me?

Every transaction requires both your signature and the Guardian's signature. This means even if someone gets your private key, they cannot move funds without also having access to your 2FA device and Guardian service.

Is my TOTP secret secure?

Yes. TOTP secrets are stored encrypted at rest and never appear on the blockchain. The Guardian service verifies codes without storing them permanently, and all communication uses TLS encryption.

What happens if the Guardian service is down?

The Guardian service has built-in redundancy and recovery mechanisms. In case of extended outages, recovery codes can be used to temporarily bypass Guardian verification for emergency access.

Is Vokter production-ready?

Yes, Vokter Version 3.0 is deployed and tested on Solana devnet with comprehensive security features including 2-of-2 multisig, TOTP authentication, and Guardian service. Professional security audit required for mainnet deployment.
